Catch Up - Summer 2012 Mountain biking...

After the snow had dried up along with my tears of sorrow, I sprang into the season of mountain biking along with a few road biking adventures. Unfortunately, I don't have a plethora of biking pictures/videos to share. I've received my lashings for this botched planning from Mike. So many times we had experienced moments of, "Miles, why oh why didn't you bring your GoPro"   (GoPro, which many of you are probably aware is an outrageously great camera for catching action shots/videos, you can check one out HERE)

Anyhow, the proceeding is what has been captured thus far, and with fingers crossed we'll have but a few more to follow suit before the snow flies! All future postings will include information about the location and directions to wherever the fun is located.

The most recent, and probably the most entertaining video, completely and utterly unedited fun.

First indication that my judgement on a bike could be sub-par.

First video I created after moving back to Montana, includes time spent in Delaware. I'm not sure I'd be into mtb as much as I am if it weren't for places and people I met in Delaware, as strange as that may seem.

Sure, a freeride Gary Fisher with 7.5" of travel front and rear may seeeeem like overkill on some XC trails in the rolling hills of northern Delaware...

Some pictures of a place destine for pain and agony, but teases you with the satisfaction of a day free from serious injury. "Diablo Freeride Park"  A broken right thumb came courtesy from this place.

As you'll find in future postings if you choose to follow, I'm not actually that good at a lot of things. I do enjoy hurling myself around, down mountains on two wheels with no sane excuse,  complete with a big grin. I've never actually landed a backflip, although I'm sure I've tried ~50 times.

...and I can only imagine that most of the view point in this clip is what my gentlemen's area sees..

Finally, I participated in the Le Tour De Koocanusa bike ride over the summer. Specifically, August 11th.  An excellent ride that exceeded every expectation that I had.  You can find more information here:  http://www.letourdekoocanusa.com/

Did stop to take many pictures, however I did use my phone (Google Tracks) to record the information!

The half way mark!

It all starts below Libby Dam... dam  :)

Mayflower Post - Lolo Peak Skiing

This last summer has been scattered with an unbelievable amount of 'escapades' that have lead me to believe I should be documenting these someplace other than Facebook. Diversifying might be the word.

I believe it was sometime in late spring when I conjured up an idea to make an attempt at back-country skiing. I had to con a good friend Mike S. into it by saying I was going to go by myself,  and sure enough his concern for my safety, to which I had a history demonstrating my lack there of, led him to join.

Mike's pack.

Mine.. complete with my new favorite skis, Fat-Ypus Descenders although they will soon be outfitted with some Dynafit TLT Radical FT bindings to accommodate substantially more back-country adventures this season

It was a mind numbing, and admittedly leg numbing hike with those packs, however breaking into views like these led to a second wind.

Celebratory gestures were required.

Needless to say the trip was a success complete with aches and pains the next day. Although this was the last ride of the season, we are gearing up for many more during the 2012/13 season. Let this be the opening into a few other escapades to which I'll post later.
