17-Nov-2012 St. Mary Peak - Early Season

With SNOTELs in the area reporting 7-14" inches of snow, I thought it time to make a trip up St. Mary Peak. (http://www.summitpost.org/saint-mary-peak/399113)  Located just south of Stevensville, St. Mary boasts a 9,000ft summit and the highest trail-head in the Bitterroot Mountain Range.

Utilizing Merete's new car to get us to the trail-head, pretty stoked we found snow right away.

Josh may be no skier, but he can work a pair of snowshoes.

Perhaps I had a biased opinion, but I found myself satisfied with my choice in skins.

We stopped short of the summit due to time constraints and the obvious wind-blown conditions above.

Stay tuned for more updates! My next outing is suppose to be Dec. 8th with Mike, work off some of the Thanksgiving food!  I can only assume we'll have more snow to work with, thus next post should have a video to go with!
