Video mix of McCormick & Hoodoo Pass Skiing
In search for new skiing area this spring, I came across the Hoodoo Pass area. I can say with certainty I will be back to this winter playground! A wild success aside from the consistant 1/4-1/2 mile visibility today. We started from the Hoodoo Pass trail-head, and proceeded up to Radio Mountain, down and over to the ridge just East of Hoodoo Lake. A hike back up and down the other side to the edge of Hoodoo Lake.
After skinning back up the western ridge of Radio Mountain we proceeded back to the snowmobile, which broke down about 1.5 miles from the Escape. Looking forward to next season when I might have a newer, more reliable one, and come back to visit Hoodoo Pass. We also have pretty stable conditions to work with, minus a soft layer of sluff about 5" down.

ReplyDeleteHey Miles, Nice write up buddy! Hey where is the snowline at as of last week? could you drive to the lower heart lake trailhead or did you have to drop the sled a couple miles before that? Thanks man keep on rippin
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouragement! Snow on the road began around 2-3 miles before the lower heart lake trailhead. Although there was only a foot or so in the beginning, with bald patches along the way, and MAYBE a 1 1/2 ft at the trailhead. A couple weeks I imagine is all it's going to take to be able to get there. Will be up there again for either Illinois, or Windfall Lake area tour this weekend.
